For a slim, sleek and sophisticated physique that is not overly muscular

"I can lose 2-4 pounds a week"

I was recently chatting with a guy in his mid-40's about losing weight.

He had been struggling for some time to lose the last 15 pounds to get lean.

I told him that since he was in his 40's and close to his target weight, he could expect to lose about 3-4 pounds per MONTH of fat.

Realistically it would take 4-6 months to get there.

So I was telling him that sometime in June or July he would hit his goal.

His response?

"Oh no, I can lose weight fast... 2-4 pounds a week if I stick to the deficit. It's just my stinking appetite."

I know he has been struggling for years to lose this last bit of weight.

So obviously his statement is false.

A 44 year old is VERY unlikely to lose 4 pounds of fat in a week.

Especially if they only have 10-15 pounds to lose.

All he has been doing is losing and gaining water weight with the way he has been dieting.

Here is the way to really tell if you are losing fat vs water.
  • Track your weight first thing each morning.
  • Make special note of the lowest weight each week.
  • Try to hit a new low the following week.

Here's what happens.

The first few weeks, you may feel like you are losing more than a pound of fat per week.

A lot of this could just be water weight.

BUT...

At some point you are going to hit a true low.

THIS is when the fat loss game really begins!

That following week it is going to be more of a challenge to have a day where you weigh one pound lighter.

This is a good thing.

This weekly strategy works well.

All you are doing is trying to hit a new low ANY morning of the new week.

It almost becomes like a game with a clear goal.

I find it easiest to hit this low Thursday or Friday morning.

A lot of this depends on your workout schedule and diet.

I cover how to hit new weekly lows in my book "12 Weeks Physical Transformation Journey".

If you don't want to lose and gain the same 10 pounds over and over, follow this strategy.

Works well.

If you are in your 20's you really CAN lose 2-4 pounds per week.

Follow the strategies in my book and you will get lean in short order.

I'm mainly talking about people in their 40's and beyond.

Also...

If you have 50+ pounds to lose, you can drop large amounts of weight quickly.
