It's easy to forget that putting on weight takes a long time.
Typically, it just creeps up on people.
It it so slow that it is easy to miss.
Then one day someone sees an old photo of themselves and can't believe how much different they look now.
Or...
They see a current photo of themselves and are horrified.
The process of becoming overweight takes many years in most cases.
Sometimes decades.
The problem is that people expect that losing all that weight should take 3-6 months max.
I'm not saying that losing weight and hitting your target weight should take 5-10 years.
But...
If you have a lot of weight to lose, it will most likely take more than 5-10 months.
Unless you are under 30.
Age is a HUGE factor in getting lean.
I remember being in my mid 20's at the Australia Catholic University
Back then we would bulk up and eat like crazy in the fall.
In the spring we would diet for 3 months and look ripped before summer hit.
I'm mentioning this, because I notice before and after pics of young people on Facebook will show similar things.
Dramatic weight loss in 3 months.
If you are in your 30's (or older) with the same amount of weight to lose, that same amount of weight loss will probably take a year or more.
[If you were in a movie theater when you first saw this scene, you probably need to be a bit more patient when it comes to fat loss.]
I think most people should expect about 12 months to go from overweight to decently slim.
...and another 6-12 months to go from slim their ideal fitness level.
Hope this helps.
Every little tweak can help when it comes to fat loss.
This isn't that hard to do...
...but over a period of a year or two could make a significant difference.
