I was scanning through fitness articles this morning...and ran across this article:
I like to click over to these types of articles just to see if people are giving out accurate info.
Here's what this person wrote about Alcohol:
"All of those calories need to be burned immediately or your body will simply store them as fat."
This is simply NOT the case.
Less than 5 percent of the alcohol you consume gets converted to fat.
It isn't even enough to make a noticeable difference in overall fat mass.
Alcohol gets converted to acetate.Your body burns this first BEFORE burning protein, carb, or fat energy.
This means that if you eat a fatty meal and drink alcohol, much of that fat you can get stored as body fat. It's not the actual alcohol getting stored as fat.
Protein and carbs are similar to alcohol in that the body burns them for the most part and very little gets stored as fat.
So keep fats to a minimum when you have a drink or two and you will be good.
Something like a bowl of Pho would be ideal.
I honestly think it would be near impossible to become fat eating Pho.
It's a lean and filling meal.
It is also the type of meal where you feel full, but not bloated at all.
Anyways, back to alcohol and weight loss...
An interesting thing I've noticed is that the same personality type that enjoys working out, also enjoys social drinking.
I've wrote an article about this a while back."Health Benefits of Alcohol: Is Alcohol Good for You?"
As long as you keep it to just a couple of drinks, you absolutely can stay lean and healthy while enjoying beer, wine, and spirits.
Would you be leaner and healthier without alcohol.
Possibly?
I think this depends on the person:
A man named Francisco Nunez Olivera lived to the age of 113 and attributed his long life to enjoying one drink per day.
If 1-2 drinks are relaxing and enjoyable?
That has to be beneficial.
If you don't respond well to alcohol?
It is probably best to avoid it.
